Most of the orchids are generally required to be repotted once in every two years. The orchids gradually deteriorates due to various factors. If repotting of orchids is not done then the bark or moss becomes decomposed and packed. Under these circumstances the roots are not properly aerated and the drainage becomes blocked so there is too much standing moisture, and then the plant eventually dies from asphyxiation and root rots. Ideally, orchids should be repotted immediately after flowering for better results.
The various tools required for repotting of orchids are 1 pair of clippers, 1 large bucket, 1 blowtorch, Pots, Bamboo Stakes and Orchid Ties.
Warm-temperature orchids usually require a medium to strong light, which one can easily provide by placing them in a southern exposure during the winter and an east-facing window for the rest of the year. The temperature should always be kept at 63 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit during the night and 75 to 90 degrees during the day.
Various Orchids are native to the land of Guyana. These include the white coloured Sobralia valida, the purple coloured Sobralia oliva-estevae and Epistephium duckei, the brown spotted, yellow Rudolfiella bicornaria. Then there is the undescribable Brassia (often confused with B. verrucosa) and the light purpulish Epistephium subrepens which are also found in Guyana. The white and yellow vanilla bicolor, the pinkish Cleistes rosea ans Zygosepalum labiosum are few other native orchids of Guyana. Amongst others seen in the forests of Guyana are Epidendrum carpophorum, Gongora pleichroma, Bollea violacea and Galeottia jorisiana.
